Denise Riley: ‘Imagined Insides of the Head’

riley bookOn Thursday July 4th, the poet and philosopher Denise Riley will deliver a guest lecture, entitled ‘Imagined Insides of the Head’ at 5.30pm in the Geography and Geology Building at UCC.

Professor Riley is currently A.D. White Professor-at-Large at Cornell University, USA, and Sessional Lecturer in the Department of History, Classics and Archaeology at Birkbeck University of London.

Her books include: War in the Nursery: Theories of the Child and Mother [1983],‘Am I that Name?’ Feminism and the Category of Women in History [1988],The Words of Selves: Identification, Solidarity, Irony [2000], The Force of Language, with Jean-Jacques Lecercle [2004], Impersonal Passion: Language As Affect [2005]. Her poetry collections include Penguin Modern Poets 10, with Douglas Oliver and Ian Sinclair, [1996], and Denise Riley: Selected Poems [2000]

Co-hosted by the UCC Modernisms Research Centre, in conjunction with Enclave Review and the SoundEye Poetry Festival, this event   has been made possible by the support of the Department of History of Art at UCC.
